NEWSGAMES

Over the course of the third semester of Game Design, we were tasked with developing a couple of Newsgames to topics that were on the news in the recent months. The idea behind this was to teach us how to develop games fast, as we were given only 3 weeks per game (with one exception). I worked on two games during that time, which are presented down below.

TRUMPAGOTCHI

Trumpagotchi is a satirical reimagining of the Tamagotchi, a popular kid’s toy from the 90s.

In this game, you are the new White House chief of staff and your job ist o keep America safe. You constantly need to feed Donald Trump’s ego by allowing him to tweet. Doing this, however, lowers the Stability of the White House and you need to remove any potential chaos until it is too late.

For this project, I was mostly involved in doing research, most noteably searching through Donald Trump’s tweets to feature in the game but I also provided the background, the icons and buttons as well as the fire animation.

"Code 39/30" is a choose-your-own-adventure game about two police cases, both real, and adapted in a way that there are multiple endings to each scene.

This project was the first project I was allowed to work as a Narrative Designer on. I was tasked with looking for interesting real-life police cases, which leave an open window to adapt them into a story with multiple endings. I created flowcharts that my teammates used to implement the story into the game.
